Photo of the Day 31st August 2023

Side view of a twin engined military jet trainer aircraft, with the wings attached to the top of the fuselage and angled down steeply. The plane is mostly covered in a pale green and sandy brown camoglage pattern, with a vivid blue belly. There is a green/white/green roundel on the engine air intake, with a glag made up of green/white/green vertical bars on the tail, above the black serial "NAF477". Under the cockpit, there are downward pointing white and red triangles indicating the location of ejector seats, and yellow and black warning lables indicating some form of emergency switch. The wing has pylons coming down from 2 different points along it's span, with the outer pylon being fitted with a large external fuel tank in the same green and sandy brown upper and blue lower surfaces The cockpit has two seats in a tandem configuration, although only the front seat seems to be occupied. In the baclkground, a terminal building is visible, with the nose of a white airliner poking in to frame on the upper left, and the tailcone of another plane on the upper right.

Side view of a 3 engined jet airliner being towed from left to right, turning slightly away from the camera. The plane is mostly white, with a grey belly. There are dark blue "Lufthansa" on the forward fuselage, between the 2 sets of forward doors. The tail is dark blue, with a yellow circle with the stylised image of a dark blue flying bird above the centre engine. The registration "D-ADJO" is on the lower rear fuselage, just forward of the rear doors, with the letters "JO" in black on the nosewheel doors, nd in white at the top of the tail. The rear door and the second forward door are open, with barriers in place to stop anyone walking through them before airbridges or airstairs can be attached. In the foreground, a yellow cargo lift and white set of airstairs with blue stripes and "Flughafen Frankfurt Main" titles are visible at the bottom of the frame. In the background, a large grey hangar with blue doors can be seen, with 2 planes with simi;lar colour schemes parked in front of it, with the tail of another 3 engined Lufthansa planefacing the other way behind them. Above it all, the sky is a hazy grey.

Slightly grainy side view of a helicopter flying from left to right past the camera at a distance. The helicopter is mostly white, with a grey belly, seperated by thin red stripes. There is a Star Of Life, a blue six pointed star with a white border, and white rod with a white snake wrapped around it in the middle, positioned on the rear of the engine cowling, suggesting this is being used by emergency medical services. Behind, the sky is a pale blue.
