Photo of the Day 29th September 2023

Side view of a twin engined jet airliner with it's main wheels flat on the ground but it's nose raised steeply as it accelerates through take off, moving from right to left. The plane is mostly white, with a blue, yellow, and gold stripe running along the body, with blue "SINGAPORE AIRLINES" titles on the upper forward fuselage. The tail is a dark blue, with a golden flying bird in the middle. In the background, a tall airport building with an extensively green glazed tower looms over the right of the frame, with smaller buildings stretching across the picture. Above, the sky is a dreary blue-grey.

Somewhat grainy side view of a large twin engined biplane flying from right to left at a very low altitude. The plane is almost entirely painted brown, with the registration "G-EAOU" prominent on the side of the fuselage.
G-EAOU, Vickers FB27 Vimy (replica), a recreation of the first plane to fly non-stop across the Atlantic, performing a flight at Farnborough Air Show, 10th September 1994 – I believe not long after this, they recreated that historic flight.

Side view of a twin engined jet airliner taxiing facing to the right being pushed back from it's stand by a tow truck just off screen on the right. The plane is mostly white, with a thick blue stripe running along the body, and large LOT titles on the forward fuselage, with smaller "POLSKIE LINIE LOTNICZE" titles on the centre upper fuselage over the wings. The tail is blue, with a white circle with a red and white stripe coming backwards from the top, with a stylised flying blue bird in the middle. In the nbackground is a terminal building, with a couple of grey airbridges coming down and to the left - the nearest of these has a light blue plane attached to the end.
