Photo of the Day 12th April 2025.

Side view of a white, single engined light aircraft taxiing from left to right on a grass airfield. The plane is white on top, with a green belly.

Side view of a white and blue, twin engined jet airliner about to taxi off to the left. The plane is mostly white, with a dark blue belly with white and red piping. There are blue "Britannia" titles on the upper forward fuselage, next to a blue head wearing a plumed helmet. The registration "G-0BJXJ" is on the rear fuselage, under the tail, in black. The tail is mostly blue, with white and red piping at the bottom, with a large white image of a seated woman holding a trident in her right hand and a circular shield resting on the ground in her left hand, and wearing a plumed helmet on her head. The position of the shield almost makes it look like she is sitting in a wheelchair. Red tarmac filled with diagonal yellow stripes fills the foreground, while a low terminal building stretches across the background. The right wingtip of the plane I am on can be seen on the left of the frame. A large grey hangar can be seen beyond the terminal, under grey skies.

Photo taken from seat 29 F on board G-BMRJ, Boeing 757-236, British Airways, as we pushed back prior to taxiing out to Runway 24 for departure to London Heathrow.

I wasn't actually planning on going anywhere that day, but there was nothing going on at the airport, and I had a few days off work, and I managed to get a dirt cheap seat on this flight after I was bored enough to ask!

On This Day 2 12th April 1992.

Somewhat grainy side view of a white, twin engined BizJet taxiing along a taxiway from right to left. The plane is almost entirely white, with a double, thin blue stripe running along the body, and a thick red strip containing a white cross on the tail. The registration "HB-0VJJ" is under this, in blue. Over-sized wingtip fuel tanks cover a large part of the lower body. Green grass fills the bottom of the frame, with more grass and a black runway in the background.
