On This Day 12th October 2019.

Side view of a twin engined jet airliner parked on a runway, ready for take-off. The plane is basically white, with red "Jet2.com" titles on the lower forward fuselage, red "Friendly Low Fares" text on the upper middle fuselage, over the wings, and both sets of text on the white engine pods under the wings. There are also diagonal red "Jet2.com" title on the white tail. Several lights on the nose-wheel leg are reflected on the damp runway. Grass fills the foreground, with more grass visible under the plane in the background, leading up to large terminal buildings in the distance on both sides of the frame. Bright but cloudy sky completes the image.

YL-LCV, Airbus A321-231, Jet2, in their "We've borrowed this, but we want you to think it's ours without having to paint it in our colours" livery, lining up on a rather damp Runway 23 Left at Manchester Airport, 12th October 2019, as seen from one of the South Side mounds.

Bonus Photo of the Day 12th October 2025.

Head-on shot of a single-engined light aircraft, with the propellor mounted on the rear of the fuselage, facing backwards. A large, almost black perspex canopy gives great visibility forwards and to the sides for the occupants, although there is next to nothing ot the rear. The main wheels are on small struts coming out of the bottom of the fuselage, and are covered in white spats. A thin support strut comes out from the side of the fuselage by the undercarriage strut, rising diagonally to the mid-point of the rather thick, white wing. The black registration "G-MYIK" is visible under the left wing. The 3-bladed wooden prop is visible behind the cockpit, Grey tarmac apron fills the foreground, with a strong shadow being cast by the plane, sunlight coming from the right of the frame. A wooden, green building is in the background on the left, with a green hangar with a black domed roof on the right, and trees beyond in the middle. Bright but hazy sky fills the rest of the frame.
