Side view of a white, 3 engined jet airliner moving from left to right, decelerating hard after landing. The plane is almost entirely white, with only blue "SafAir" titles on the upper forward fuselage, and the registration "ZS-NOV" on the sides of the engine pods mounted on the sides of the rear fuselage adding a splash of colour. Flaps extend from the front and rear of the wing, suggesting it is slowing down in a hurry after landing. Large grassed areas mixed with grey taxiways fill the foreground, with a lonely house nestled in trees in the background. Trees on a distant hillside and grey sky fills the rest of the frame.

Side view of a single-engined light aircraft with T-tail, parked black tarmac apron facing to the left. The plane is largely white, with a blue lower half, with a red and gold stripe running along the body. The gold registration "N66MS is on the lower rear fuselage, the bottom partially obscured by the wing. A pair of fuel trucks are parked in the background in front of some grey pre-fabricated buildings, with a large, squat, grey building further back on the right, and brown brick housing in the middle and on the left, all under cloudy grey sky with occasional hints of blue.

Scale models of 3 World War 2-era military fighter planes mounted in flying poses on grey metal poles , seemingly soaring into the sky. The 3 planes are painted in broadly similar colours, with slight differences in the camouflage scheme used, as well as individual markings - they all have creamy-green undersides. With olive-green and brown camouflage on the uppers surfaces, with blue, white, and red roundels over white and black stripes under the wings, and a yellow, blue, white, and red over white and black stripes on the rear fuselage, the latter having 2 letters in front and one at the back of the roundels. In the foreground, on the bottom right, and missing it's propellor, is a plane angled towards the camera, showing it's whole fuselage and upper wing surfaces, with the white letters "JV-V" either side of the roundel on the body, seemingly flying from right to left. On the left, and higher up, is a similar machine, with only it's belly and propellor visible, appearing to fly from left to right. On the top right is a 3rd plane, tilted slightly away from the camera, showing the code "Q-YG" either side of the body roundel, and the serial "W3334" just in front of the tail. A brown building can be seen on the left of the frame, with strings of coloured lights running along the bottom of the frame, the rest filled with dramatic grey sky. Neon lighting tubes surround the poles, for use during the annual Blackpool Illuminations festival, when most of the main road through the Blackpool area is lit up with extravagant displays.

Despite what the name may suggest (and several touristy-type articles on certain websites might imply), this is not actually an island, but the middle of a traffic roundabout, at a busy junction on the main road from Blackpool to Fleetwood.

Amusingly, the display is (or, at least, was) sponsored by Airfix.
