Photo of the Day 21st June 2025.

Side view of a high-winged, twin jet engined airliner flying from left to right at a very low altitude, just a couple of metres above the runway.

OY-NCN, Dornier DO-328JET-310, SunAir of Scandinavia but operating in British Airways livery, taking off on one of several daily flights to Billund in Demark from Runway 23 Right at Manchester Airport, 24th August 2015, as seen from the Runway Viewing Park.

This is oddly the only regularly scheduled international route from Manchester operated in British Airways colours (and, in fact, the only route not involving Heathrow!), and it's about the only place I would choose to fly with BA, partly because I think these planes are fun and interesting, but mostly because Billund is the home of Lego, and I'm a massive fan!

Side view of a twin propellor-engined parked on grey concrete apron facing to the right. The plane is almost entirely white, with black "Air Europa" titles on the upper forward fuselage next to a small Spanish flag, with black, seemingly hand-written "Express" text below. An orange and red wavy diagonal stripe is on the white tail. Grey concrete apron fills the foreground, with grass in the background visible under the plane, with cloudy grey sky above.

View from underneath of a twin engined jet airliner flying from left to right almost directly overhead, with flaps extended from the front of the wings, undercarriage already tucked away, and the nose raised sharply, suggesting it has just taken off. The plane is mostly white, with a dark blue belly outlined with a yellow pin-stripe. The engines mounted under the wings are a bright yellow. The tail is also dark blue, with a pair of wavy yellow lines in the middle. The up-turned wing-tips are also dark blue with a pair of bright yellow wavy lines. The black registration "TF-FIO" can be seen under the outer sections of the left wing. Vivid blue sky fills the rest of the frame.

Side view of a high-winged, twin propellor-engined airliner taxiing from right to left, heading for the black runway visible behind them. There are black "Jersey European" titles on the lower fuselage, with a large black, yellow, orange and red triangle on the forward fuselage just behind the cockpit, a logo repeated on the tail. The black registration "G-JEAG" is on a white fillet at the front of the tail. Grey concrete apron fills the foreground and a large part of the background, with large areas of green grass and a black runway filling the rest.

Side view of a high-winged, twin propellor-engined airliner taxiing from right to left. The plane is mostly white, with a blue stripe and red pin-stripe running along the body, as well as a grey belly. There are black "Eurowings" titles on the upper forward fuselage, above a pair of stylised flying bird, one red, one blue with a long tail that forms a semi-circle, a logo repeated on the tail. Grey concrete apron fills the foreground and most of the background, with white and red barriers at the top of the frame denoting a construction zone, with several vehicles inside including an orange concrete truck, and men wearing hi-viz vests and hard-hats.
