Trees meet grey sky in the distance.

On This Day 5th March 1996.

The plane is largely white, with a pair of red stripes running along the body, above and below the passenger cabin windows, joining at a point below the cockpit windows and in front of the horizontal stabiliser on the rear fuselage. Red arches have been painted around each of the cabin windows, and there is red writing in a Sanskrit or Hindi script on the upper forward fuselage, just aft of a small Indian flag. The registration "C-GCIL" is on the side of the lower rear fuselage, in red. The tail is white, with diagonal red text "Air India" along the leading edge, and a red blob that, if you squint, resembles a flying red bird with outstretched wings filling the rest of the space. A green set of mobile airstairs, mounted on the back of a green truck, is parked by the open forward cabin door. Grey apron fills most of the foreground, with a tall lighting pole right at the front on the left reaching into the sky, partially obscuring part of the forward fuselage, right where the forward door is folded open. Taxiways and a black runway are separated by wide strips of grass in the background, with grey-brown cargo buildings and a grey and blue plane in the distance, under even greyer skies.
