AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!
I’ve been having problems with my main #Fediverse server for a few weeks now – Ahh, who am I trying to kid, for at least a year now!
It turns out that trying to keep something like that alive requires more work than I sometimes want to do, so I tend to leave it, then forget to get back back to it, and BAM! the disk is full again!
It is massively outdated anyway, so I’m tempted to nuke it from orbit (It’s the only way to be sure!) and start again – but with only 80Gb of disk space, including for the OS and other stuff I need to run, it’s only going to get bogged down again.
My current provider recently put up their prices for new servers, to a monthly number that is roughly double what I can afford, which means that I may be looking a bit further afield for a new deal.
So, even if I manage to get the thing online again, I’m unlikely to let it go for more than a few days before re-(re-)starting it, possibly on a new server, possibly this Sunday coming.
And yes, I know, the idea was to use this place to replace social.teamb.space , but there is something wrong with this as well, and I can’t figure out what, all I know is that any comments I make on federated posts don’t federate!
Which is the only reason I haven’t abandoned that place and moved here permanently.
But yeah, I’ll still be posting over here,but won’t be able to chat.
Anyhoo, see ya in the funny pages!
@mancavgeek@mancavgeek.co.uk Yeah – I'm back, but I really need a larger home…
I'm currently paying just over €10 a month for hosting teamb.space , and my host wants almost $25 for more storage.
I could do it for less by hosting in the US or Asia, but I want it in the UK or EU, so im looking for a new home.
Any chance of linking to my website at https://allaviator.com, Stuart? A link to you is already in place.
Not a problem – I’ve been planning on putting a links page up for ages, but just been too… lets say pre-occupied, rather than lazy… to actually do anything about it.
Tagging my Masto account because I don’t think Federation is working properly…
