OnThisDay (Page 16)

Side view of a twin engined jet airliner taxiing from right to left along a grey taxiway. The plane is mostly white, with a red and yellow stripe coming from under the forward fuselage, sweeping up over the wings, and along the rear fuselage, the red getting wider as it moves rearwards, until it fills the tail. There is a second yellow stripe on the rear fuselage, and yellow swirls on the tail, with a smaller version of the red and yellow tail appearing on the up-turned wingtips. There are red titles on the upper forward fuselage, in a Chinese script forward of the mid-cabin door, and in English aft of that door. The black registration "B-1020"is on the upper rear fuselage. The top floor and grey roof of an airport building stretches across the foreground, very pale blue very large fuel tanks in the background, behind a grey and blue low building, meeting foggy grey sky.

Side view of a twin engined jet airliner taxiing from right to left onto a grey runway. The plane is largely white, with a red rear fuselage and tail. There are grey "Helvetic" titles on the side of the forward fuselage, with smaller grey text "Airways" below. The black registration "HB-JVO" is on the upper rear fuselage, just forward of the rear cabin door. There is a large white cross on the red tail, as well as on the red up-turned wingtips. Green grass lines the runway in the foreground, with more grass in the background leading up to trees in the distance, under grey-blue sky.

Side view of a single engined light aircraft parked facing to the right on grass. The plane is largely white, with a black anti-dazzle panel on top of the engines directly in front of the large bubble cockpit canopy, and a red belly. The horizontal stabiliser and the outer panels of the wings are also painted red. There is a blue, white, and red roundel on the rear fuselage, and a blue, white, and red fin flash under the red number "06" on the tail. The number "06" is repeated in white on the front of the engine cowling. The black serial "XX522" is visible under the horizontal stabiliser on the rear fuselage. Green grass fills the foreground and a good part of the background, leading up to trees and bushes lining the airfield perimeter. A man with short dark hair and wearing a yellow hi-viz vest is standing on the far side of the planes rear fuselage, accompanied by a pair of children, with the head of one wearing a hat visible over the top of the plane, and 2 pairs of legs wearing short trousers visible below. Blue sky over rolling hills in the far distance completes the image.

Somewhat grainy side view of a 4 propellor-engined cargo plane parked on a grey taxiway facing to the left. The plane is mostly white, with a green and black stripe running along the body, with green "Atlantic Cargo" titles on the upper fuselage, over the wings, and the black registration "G-LOFA". The tail has a pair of green and black stripes at the top, with a large, black and white image of a stooping falcon over green "Atlantic" titles at the bottom. Large areas of green grass divided by taxiways fill the foreground, with more grass leading up to trees in the distance, under grey sky.

Side view of a small, white helicopter parked on a muddy patch of grass next to an orange and white traffic cone. The chopper is almost entirely white, with golden "Adern" titles on the sides of the cockpit doors, and the golden registration "G-BRBY" on the tail boom. 2 people can be seen in the cockpit, obviously having a discussion about something judging by the pointing hands. Green grass fills most of the background, leading up toa row of bushes in the distance, with trees and houses beyond that, under flat white sky.
